The Algarve in my opinion has more things to do than just about anywhere on earth. It is generally in the top two of most visited places. The eastern Algarve is ideally situated to have an interesting and varied holiday. As I have said before you are fifteen minutes by car from the Spanish border. From where my apartments are situated you can get the train to Vila real st Antonio where you can get a ferry across the Guidiana river to the Spanish town of Ayemonte. This makes a lovely day out as it is such a pretty town. There is a beautifull square you walk into a very short distance from the ferry. It is one of those places that makes you draw your breath;first time you see it.Then off the square are dozens of pedestrian streets full of little shops and restaurants.

Also you can take a day trip to Seville, this is a city I think everybody should visit at least once before they die.Best to take a coachtrip to be able to appreciate this wonderfull city.tourist-information

Then there is Lisbon like Seville this is about two hours by road,or you can get the train from where my apartments are. This is another city that everyone should visit. You can include a visit to Fatima.Fatima is similar to Lourdes and nearly as famous as a pilgramage site.

Then we have Loule a very typical Portuguese town. With its super saturday market and also the gypsy market.Though keep your bags and wallets well safe here and walk away from the traders who approach you .Do not fall into the trap of buying illicit things such as cigarettes or booze. They take your money and then give the police a nod. They then fine you so your goods become very expensive indeed. The main market is fine but still always have your wits about you.

Below I give you a list of some of the things you can do and where possible an idea of price.tourist-information list

I hope you begin to get a small idea of what is around you especially in the eastern Algarve and the multitude of things to do.There are the Dolphins and Waterworld for kids as well as "Big kids".I could go on and on but you will need quite a few holidays to get through that lot!

WHERE CAN YOU FIND tourist-information IN THE ALGARVE

You wille find tourist offices and information boothes scattered all around the Algarve. In many cases the sign you should look out for is Tourismo.Becaus they are so holiday traffic orienttated you should never be far away from one of these.

In bigger towns you should look for tourist information offices ,if you are staying in any of the following places:

Albufeira;Amocao de Pera;Carvoeiro;Faro;Lagos;Loule;Olhao,Quarteira,Sagres;Silves;Tavira;Vila Real st Antonio, you will definitely find these larger offices, where you will be able to get written and spoken advice and literature on available tours and activities. These leaflets of course are always free.Pick up some of the regional maps as not only will they help you find or discover new locations to visit but many maps have all sorts of unusual information within their folds and pages.

In newsagents and other shops you will find larger magazine type booklets which though rather expensive contain a wealth of information, some of which you will not find elsewhere.Look for booklets EAST ALGARVE;WEST ALGARVE;CENTRAL ALGARVE.

For cheaper minefields of news and events the papers written in English are very helpful:

Algarve resident and Algarve Goodlife.
